Hi all it's been a long time since I've been on here, I was just wondering if anybody else is having trouble with getting their mobility car, as it looks like I will be waiting 10 months to get mine.

Hello there @Popdiva43 I'm not sure as my lease period is not near the end yet. I have heard generally that there's a limited supply for any new cars, whether motability or not.

I'm sorry to hear you've got a wait on your hands, hopefully one will come in sooner than expected!

I've been waiting since August last year, it just been one thing after another.

Unfortunately, there's huge delays with a lot of new cars accross the whole of the country. My son in law works for a very well known dealer and he told me a couple of days ago that some cars have a wait of around a year.
I ordered my new car in January and was told end of May, surprisingly i had a call from the dealer just under 2 weeks ago telling me the car has gone to build and delivery date is 26th April. This is for a Toyota and because it's built in the UK there's no shipping needed so it's a lot quicker. Hopefully there won't be any delays for mine.
Nothing we can do about it unfortunately.

Thanks for sharing @poppy123456 good to hear that your Toyota is on it's way.

It might well be a good idea for anyone who will soon be needing a new car to look into which car brands are built in the UK, as you say, it will make the process quicker.

As long as it isn't one that was built on a Friday! I thought that the days are long gone when Britain had a fully functioning car industry thanks to the unions.

That's not correct. Toyotta build cars in the UK. https://www.toyotauk.com/ https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/features/building-40-new-cars-hour-inside-toyotas-burnaston-plant

But it is a long time since there was any mass manufacturing by UK owned companies - I wouldn't blame the unions for that thought.

Surprise to me. Designed by Asia, built by Brits. I presume that the workers are governed by the work ethic of Japan and unions are no longer in control as a closed shop.

problem is "microchips" a problem that won't be solved anytime soon.

Yes and it's going to continue potentially for at least the rest of the year. The affect it's having is clearly shown here. https://news.motability.co.uk/motoring/car-industry-suffers-weakest-march-since-1998/?utm_source=cust-car-enewsletter-apr-2022-no-app&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=enewsletter&utm_content= supply-issues

The issue is the fact that there are supply problems with the microchips every car, and that has been caused by COVID shutdowns, and the backlog this has caused. It's cars across the board, not just Motability.
