Hi, my name is mike1950! Should I notify DWP and try for higher mobility?

72 year old male and still learning. I have six years of a ten year award of pip lower level for both. However over the last six months my mobility has taken a dive. Do I notify dwp and try for higher mobility and is there a possibility of losing my pip altogether???

I found the below information on the Citizens Advice website about the rules that apply if you are a claimant over state pension age:

Getting more PIP if your condition gets worse
If you’re getting PIP after State Pension age, there are extra rules about the ‘mobility component’. The mobility component is for the extra help you need getting around.
You can’t:

• start getting the mobility component if you aren’t already getting it

• move from the standard rate of the mobility component to the enhanced rate

The rules apply even if your medical condition has got worse.

I'm not sure about the daily living component, but I would assume that given it isn't mentioned above it can be awarded (if not already) or upgraded to enhanced from standard.

When they review your claim the whole thing is looked at again so there is a possibility of losing the award or having it reduced.

Hi,
I did read the advice from cab and was disheartened by it. However, the next day I  came across another post which stated that if you are of pension age and awarded lower mobility you cannot report a change of  circumstances and get high rate for mobility. However if the problem was the cause of your latter dla/pip award then yes you can proceed in the hope of getting the enhanced .mobility. When I had my accident in 2011 among other things I was diagnosed with cervical stenosis and spondylosis. Originally c4,5,6 then as it is progressive c6 and c7. My spinal cord is compromised by osteophytes (bone spurs) growing into the spinal canal and trapping the spinal cord
