Hi thanks for responding. This is the letter i received. Im just having trouble making sense of whether it means the date the change occured (jan 2020) or the date i reported it (dec 2022)

The letter means the change will be applied from when it occurred (January 2020).
The child disability element should be backdated to when the DLA started.0 -
Thats great news. Thanks so much for your help0

Have you asked about the carer element or just the disability child element?0

I've already been receiving the carers element for some time, I just didn't know the disability element was even a thing until recently. Thanks for double checking though0

Good.
It will take time for UC to calculate what they owe you. The will do new statements for all the months affected and add up what you should have been paid. They will deduct the amount you have already been paid and will then pay you the balance.
When they produce the new statements these will be put on your journal, when this happens you will no longer have access to the old statements so yo7 may wish to download them now so that you can compare them with the new ones if you need to.0 -
That's really helpful to know thanks so much!0
