Hi, my name is Oliver's Dad Can anybody recommend a place to rent equipment?

I am the father of a 10 year old boy who has CP. We will be travelling to the UK in a few weeks. Previously when we have travelled we have been able to bring my sons wheelchair and walker, but as he has gotten bigger, so has his equipment. His walker is really too large to travel with now, so we are looking into renting equipment.

Can anyone here recommend a place to rent pediatric mobility equipment - preferable in the Hampshire/Dorset/Wiltshire area?

I am not sure about where you could go to rent equipment, but you could consider contacting the below organisations for some support:

• Independent Living gives advice about mobility aids and disability products.
• Living Made Easy is a directory of assistive products which you can buy, such as equipment to help with eating, drinking, bathing and dressing.

One option could be to buy some equipment and then sell or recycle it at the end of your trip, although I appreciate that there will be higher costs associated with that compared to renting. You could look at used equipment to save some cost, and Scope has an information page about buying used disability equipment.

Scope also has a page about selling used equipment.
