Hello @mel_kennedy99 and welcome to the community
It's great to have you join today.
I'd be interested to know, how are you finding your studies, and can I ask what was your undergraduate degree?
If you need a hand looking around the forum then just ask, and I'd encourage you to visit our CP category, as well as the Coffee Lounge to chat and play games with other members if you fancy.0 -
Hi,
I have found my studies interesting and have really reconnected with my disabled identity, which has been difficult as I come from a non-disabled family and have been quite isolated from the disabled community for most of my life.
We covered critical disability theory, disability and disciplines, professional practices and disability, and the disability models. It was a nice balance on the course as many of my lecturers identify as disabled and my classmates were both disabled and non-disabled, so we could have open discussions and learn about different approaches and viewpoints to disability.
My undergraduate degree was in politics, philosophy and sociology combined. I am considering moving back into politics for my PhD studies and focusing on disability politics and social policies. Of course, this depends on the outcome of my research project for my dissertation!
Thank you for the advice, I will check it out!0 -
Wow that sounds really good @mel_kennedy99, especially with a mix of disabled and non disabled students
It's clear you've got strong aspirations to work towards, a PhD on disability politics would certainly have so many applications towards pushing for change!
I hope you enjoy your time on the forum, and the rest of your weekend.
