Applying for Carers allowance. When can I apply?

I will be taking early retirement on the 15th July this year, and will then be applying for Carers allowance to look after my Wife.
Will i have to wait until 15th August to apply or can i start the process any earlier or do o have to wait for my P60 to be sent out ?

Previous thread here says their partner is claiming NsESA and PIP. They are not entitled to UC. https://forum.scope.org.uk/discussion/89965/carers-allowance-question#latest0

OP, I think you can apply for CA up to three months in advance.0
