Hi, my name is Trulenska67! Should I be able to get SDP backdated from when I was first entitled?

Hello my Name is Trudi and I've just joined you all..
I'm after some appeals benefit advice if possible for SDP which I should have been entitled to since 2019 and have been told I can't get thst backdated because I didn't notify them at the time but they called me a month ago telling me I was entitled but would be from the time when I first enquired about the benefit which I was unaware of before that. Should I be able to get it backdated from when i was first entitled. Proof was sent I was living alone but my mandatory reconciliation was rejected and am now a few days late in sending my appeal as I've been trying to get help.

If all the criteria applied back in 2019 and no one claimed either carers allowance or carers element of UC for looking after you then yes it can be backdated to the date you qualified. Are you 100% sure you qualified? You have 13 months to request the Tribunal but you’ll need to give a reason why you were late requesting it, if it was outside the 1 month after the MR decision.0

Hello and welcome @Trulenska and thanks for reaching out with your query.
Let us know if you're still unsure of anything and we'll do what we can to helpThis is a very supportive and welcoming community to join, so please feel free to have a look around and get involved wherever you’d like 😊 I have included below a few of the pages I’d recommend having a look through to get used to things:
- The virtual coffee lounge which is one of our categories, in which we play games and talk about general subjects such as hobbies and interests
- The recent discussions page, which shows an overview of everything happening across the community
- The categories page, which shows a full list of discussion groups on the community
If you have any questions at all then don’t hesitate to ask, and I hope you're not feeling too hot today!
