Hiya, I’ve found this page very helpful, so thought I’d ask on here if anyone knows after you receive the text message stating they have awarded you pip, how long does it take for the letter to arrive please?
Do they backdate payment for pip from the day you made the call to claim?
Thank you

It can take a couple of weeks to receive the decision letter.
If its a first time claim and you’re not transferring from DLA then yes it’s paid from the date you rang to start your claim.Money is usually received in your bank before the decision letter is received.0 -
Hello @hannah29 and welcome to the community, I'm glad you have found it to be helpful in the past.
This is a very supportive and welcoming site to be a part of so I’m hopeful that you’ll find it to be a positive outlet. Feel free to have a look around and get involved wherever you’d like 😊 I have included below a few of the pages I’d recommend having a look through to get used to things:
- The virtual coffee lounge which is one of our categories, in which we play games and talk about general subjects such as hobbies and interests
- The recent discussions page, which shows an overview of everything happening across the community
- The categories page, which shows a full list of discussion groups on the community
If you have any questions at all then don’t hesitate to ask.
I have moved your thread over to our PIP category which you might find it helpful to browse for any related discussions.

It’s a first time claim and not transferring. Thank you for the information and such a quick response. Much appreciated.
When I called before I received the text it said how much I’d be getting and the first payment would be 4th August, does this mean it’ll get backdated until August 3rd?0 -
Your decision letter will explain everything to you. It will also tell you when your money is paid up until. Your next payment will be 4 weeks later.
I wouldn’t take too much notice of the automated payment line because it’s not the most reliable.
Money owed will be in your bank between 3-5 working days after it was sent to you.0 -

I'm pleased to hear you've been awarded @hannah29 hopefully it won't be too long now before your letter
I hope this news helps you stay relaxed in the hot weather! If we can help with anything else in the meantime, please do ask.0
