Hi, I'm new to the group, and have just had my pip assessment via phone call, as the video call wasn't working, and agreed to call me. Lovely lady, who seemed knowledgeable and understanding. I have Pulmonary fibrosis lung disease, and struggle physically with walking, and breathlessness. I have been suffering with depression and anxiety for some time now and I'm on numerous meds and inhalers. I applied for PIP last year, but without a diagnosis I was turned down, even after an MR. 2 points for wearing hearing aids, and that was it. Hoping to get a better decision this time around.

You don't need a diagnosis to claim PIP because that's not what it's about. Lots of people successfully claim PIP that don't have a diagnosis. It's perfectly normal for the MR decision not to change.
If the worst happens this time ( i hope it doesn't) then you should take it all the way to Tribunal because to constantly reapply using the same evidence may not help.
Decision timescales are between 2-12 weeks.
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

Thanks for the reply. This was a new claim, with different evidence, and how my illness affects me. Specialist's reports and carers for how my illness affects my daily life etc. Fingers crossed

Good morning @Kevin_M and welcome to the online community :)

Thank you for telling us about your PIP assessment, it's good to hear that the assessor was friendly and knowledgeable, I imagine that must have been somewhat of a relief and helped you to relax during the call?

I hope you gett he better decision this time around, and that it isn't a long wait for you. You'll have to keep us updated about how you get on.

In terms of your conditions, how are you getting on with managing those at the moment? I hope you have enough support in place from your doctor / medical team, and it's good that specialists and carers were able to provide evidence as part of your claim.

I hope you enjoy taking part in the online community. Feel free to have a look around and get involved wherever you’d like 😊 I have included below a few of the pages I’d recommend having a look through to get used to things:

    • The virtual coffee lounge which is one of our categories, in which we play games and talk about general subjects such as hobbies and interests
    • The recent discussions page, which shows an overview of everything happening across the community
    • The categories page, which shows a full list of discussion groups on the community

If you have any questions at all then don’t hesitate to ask.
