PIP telephone assessment

Hi, my name is Carole and this is my first post. 

I had my telephone assessment on Tuesday 12th July, I felt like it went well but who knows?  The lady who did  the assessment said I would hear within around 6-8 weeks. I was expecting a text from DWP to say they have received my assessment report but haven’t had anything up to now. I telephone DWP today and they still haven’t received my report (it will be 3 weeks tomorrow). They gave me the telephone number of the independent assessment centre and when I called they informed me that my assessment had been chosen at random to go to audit and couldn’t give me a date when they will forward it on to DWP. Is this normal? I was hoping I would be at least half way through my wait for the decision on my claim by now but obviously not 😫

This has been ongoing since early March and is becoming very stressful.

Reports are sometimes chosen for audit, if this happens there’s nothing you can do. The report will be returned the DWP once the audit is completed but there’s no timescales how long this will take. 

I’ve had a report stay in audit for 6 weeks. 

Once it’s returned a decision can take between 2-12 weeks sometimes longer. DWP will always tell you about 8 weeks. 

Nothing more you can do until a decision is made.
