PIP award ended in March, but still waiting for assessment, but I need to renew my blue badge?

I'm still getting my PIP money while they wait to assess me, but it means I have no letter to send as evidence of entitlement for any of my disability related things, I know I can apply for a blue badge without PIP, but I don't actively see anyone frequently so I'm not sure what evidence I can supply for it...

I have EDS (so physical issues with walking, and I can't physically get out of the car without the extra space, so losing the badge will be a big issue) but I don't think they usually issue badges for that alone, I managed to get it last time on the "anxiety"/mental illness grounds, but I don't know who would be able to give acceptable evidence for that?

Hello there @Androgen, thanks for posting this thread.

I can see why this might cause you worry and make you feel uncertain about things. Firstly, I hope the review is completed swiftly and you receive your letter soon.

Have you considered contacting your GP to request medical evidence?

    Hi, thanks for responding!
Unfortunately my GP said they don't provide anything for blue badge applications (practice policy apparently) so all they can do is give me copies of letters I've already been sent, but nothing that I think would be accepted

DWP have probably increased your award by a certain length of time, if you haven't already rang them to ask then i'd advise you to do that. If they have then ask them to send you proof of this because it's needed to renew your BB.
Your BB will obviously only be awarded for the length of the extended PIP award. If a decisiion has then been made in that time and you qualify for the BB again then you can just reapply with your new award.
This happened to me last year and i had to apply for my BB twice within just a few months.
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

Initially I got a letter to say my award was extended (from June 2021 to March 2022) but now they just text me every 3 months or so to say they still have my forms and will review it as soon as they can... But I will try and contact them and see if they can give me some kind of letter, thanks!

Sorry I didn't see this until now!

Unfortunately still haven't got anywhere with the blue badge, when we called them to ask about stuff the man said to just put the application in anyway without the evidence and see if it turns up before they ask for more info, so that's what we're doing!

Please don't be sorry @Androgen. How have you been more recently?

It sounds really difficult that you still haven't got anywhere with the blue badge. How are you feeling about the idea of putting in the application anyway without the evidence?

We are wishing you the best of luck with this. Please don't hesitate to let us know if we can do anything to help, we are all here for you and listening to you  :)

Admittedly we're not doing great, but we have reached our to therapy/counselling services to get on top of that already!

We applied for the badge but just got an email back saying it can't be processed because there's not enough evidence/it's too outdated, so we're going to see if we can get hold of anything else, though it's seeming unlikely that we're going to find anything... We don't really know where to get evidence from so it's a bit of a struggle

Did you ring PIP to ask them to send you some proof that the award has been extended?

We did, they only gave a 3 month extension letter though which the council won't accept, and it's now causing issues with my ESA payments

What issues is it causing with your ESA? It should continue as normal while you wait for the decision.
