Pain relief during hospital procedures

I had two hospital procedures last week
1. a Sigmoidoscopy - for which I was given gas and air (entenox) as pain relief
2. a flexible cystography for which no pain relif was available (except for a dab of gel on my penis head) - this was an incredibly painful experience, my blood pressure went through the roof, and I can see no reason at all, why entenox should not be provided
I was wondering whether anyone else had received pain relief during this procedure ?

Morning @Wibbles my hubby has to have the camera to check his bladder and tubes on a regular bases. Sorry don't think it gets any better, one nurse did say to hubby to make sure the one that does the procedure waits at least five minuites after the gel has been used, before they insert the camera, so he is going to do that and be assertive next time he goes.0

You lie on your back during the procedure - my back arched due to the pain - I am going to ask the hospital why no gas and air was available
