Hi everyone,
Am new here.
I need help please.
Am on UC and getting lwcra. I have had my assessment with pip and gotten the assessor's report on which i scored 12 point on both . assuming i get enhanced on both daily living and mobility, can my partner claim carer allowance as he is not entitled for UC and not working at the moment because he is the one taking care of me and will it affect my benefits.
Sorry for the long explanation.
Am just stressed out thinking about everything.
Thanks .

If you are living together then your partner should be claiming UC as a joint claimant with you. If you are not living together it would be helpful to know what their situation is in order to advise.1

Hi Calcotti,
thanks for replying to my question.
I and my partner lives together and we applied for UC as a couple
he’s an eu citizen and he does have pre settled status but the decision maker said that he is not eligible for UC because he doesn’t have other right to reside.
thanks.

Hi Bamboo,
We live together and applied as a couple
He’s an EU citizen and has pre settled status but the decision makers said he does not have other right to reside so was refused UC.0 -
The carers allowance will just be deducted in full from your UC entitlement. Can't advise about the "right to reside" part for your UC though, i'm afraid.

Hi poppy123456
we have spoken with a decision maker and was told what to do about the “right to reside “
I just wanted to know if claiming ca will affect my UC.
thanks.0 -
So he is included on the claim but your award does not include any money for him. As poppy says any Carers Allowance he gets would simply be deducted from your UC so you will not be any better off.Queenv27 said:Hi Calcotti,

Your UC will be a joint claim, not just yours. It's a means tested benefit and entitlement will be based on your joint circumstances. Although you're not claiming any extra money for your partner, it makes no difference, it's still a joint claim. Carers allowance is always deducted in full.
