Hi everyone
I've just applied for pip and my question is do I have a choice of the type of assessment they are going to give me, as I would prefer not to have a paper based one?

Only one member has ever been refused from a paper-based and many people would prefer to have one (the majority do get enhanced awards). You don’t get the choice about that but if you got a face-to-face, video or telephone you can contact the assessment provider and they can re-arrange with the option that suits you.

Thanks. I thought the paper based one was the one that always turned people down and you wasn't given a fair chance thats why I didn't want one.

Could you perhaps be thinking of the tribunal stage @twiggy66

No I am talking about the actual assessment.  I've just applied for pip on Monday and have just received a text back today confirming that they have received it

This applies to Tribunal only. My daughters had 2 PIP paper based assessments and i've had one and neither of us has ever been refused.

Sorry, yes, that's what I meant @twiggy66. My reply to you could have been clearer, apologies!

How have you found the PIP process so far?

I'm just at the beginning of the process. I have received a text saying they may contact me In regards to a consultation with a health professional before they making a decision.

I hope all goes well whenever you have your assessment. I had a similar question actually, hope you don't mind me jumping in your thread. @twiggy66 :)

@bbg844 just to clarify no one can call the assesment centre to ask for a paper based assesment? I have a F2F assesment in a few weeks but I cant request a paperbased one can I?

    Thanks

You can ask for a paper based assessment but if there's not enough of evidence to complate one then an assessment will be needed. They usually look to see if a paper based assessment can be completed before sending out an appointment for an assessment.
