I got my Award Text

Morning all, yesterday was a bad day mental health wise as I got a text from DWP saying they hadn’t yet made a decision on my PIP, which I’ve been anxiously waiting to hear anything since my phone assessment in September. Then today I got a text saying I was being awarded, I felt like crying, but now I’m back in a state of anxiously waiting to know what I’ll be awarded :’) I’ve been silently watching other peoples posts about waiting on PIP etc and honestly expected to wait a lot longer. I started my pip claim in June, had my assessment on the 22nd of September and have now had my award, 3 weeks after my assessment. So I wanted to say to people also in the same state of anxiety to just do it one day at a time, don’t think about how long it could be. Thanks for everyone who posts on here for the advice since it’s a huge variety of wait times.

    Absolutely wonderful news 😀

Good advice taking it one day at a time that is what I'm doing now, as my Crohns is going through the roof with and crp level is raised so I have decided what's for me won't go by me attitude now.

Although I do think the system is slightly flawed especially for people with stress related illness or mental health issues, as you say your MH was bad due to anxiety.

Now you can sit back and relax and enjoy your days.

Once again I'm so chuffed for you @MrsCactus9.

I'm raising my morning cup of tea to you.

Thank you @Binky1234 my mental health has been awful for years and it has taken me 3 years to actually apply for PIP. It can be stressful when people say they got their award a week later etc. and the waiting game is the worst part! But I’ve been waking up daily, checking messages and then putting it out of my mind. Thank you for your kind words and I hope you get some good news soon!

@MrsCactus9 that's amazing news really happy for you. I had my assessment on 22nd as well. Still anxiously waiting. My mental health is through the roof currently and this would really help my boyfriend be able to actually get me to appointments and back without worrying about losing money at work.

@buntytmw how did you go about doing that? I get really stressed with phoning people and rely on my husband to do most calls unless I practically have a script of what I have to say/do. I know it’s too late today but I was hoping to call Monday. I had some family said I will get my backdated pay on Monday but I’m not holding too much hope on that!

Money owed is usually received before the decision letter, providing you weren't transferring from DLA. Once payment is sent it usually takes 3-5 working days to go into your bank. If the text was received this morning then money owed should be in your bank towards the middle of next week.
You can ring PIP to ask what the award is and they will tell you or you can wait for the decision letter and all the details will be in there.

Pleased to hear your news @MrsCactus9 that must be a relief! As others have said, take it one day at a time, and the decision letter will arrive before long :)
