Hi, my name is GilliEm! Does DWP normally confirm PIP getting a application?

I found this site as I was really only trying to find out how long a PIP claim took _ i know it can be a long while but I am worried that because of postal strikes etc I don't even know if they have had my claim papers.  Do they normally confirm?  I admit it has only been about six weeks since I applied, but over eight weeks since my first phone call with them.  Now I cannot get through to them at all!

If you put a mobile number down on the form then they sometimes send texts but not always. If you ring PIP the best time to do this is first thing in the morning when they open. A successful claim can potentially take several months.

Thanks for the response.  I don't have a mobile.  I'll try phoning first thing (I have already tried on several occasions - not Mondays, not Fridays, middle of all sorts of days - never answered, just stuck in queue). I gathered it would take a long time, but it helps to know if they even got it!

As you don't have a mobile then you can't receive a text and they don't send letters out to say they've received any forms.
Do be aware that it's not unusal to be stuck in the queue for at least an hour.
