I am with OVO energy and I received my £150 discount within the last few days ( not sure which day ) without having to apply. A very welcome sum with the prices as they are.

That's good news. May i ask if you're claiming pension credit? You automatically qualify in core group 1 if you do. Those that don't need to wait to see if they qualify and there's very little information about it.

No, I'm not at retirement age yet so I presume its because I claim legacy esa? I'm not sure of how it works now. I was surprised to see it on my account so early, but when my account was with sse (ovo same company) I always received it in October or November1

The criteria this year is more than just means tested benefits (for those in England and Wales) but it's complicated. Scotland is different and the same rules applies as previous years. I didn't think they were paying it yet but good news you've received it. Did it say warm home discount on your energy account?

I'll get my bill next week so I wont actually know till then, it just says a credit of £150 to my account!! You have me thinking now it might not be the warm home but what else could it be ??1

Someone else posted here last week i think saying they also received £150 but didn't know what it was for. I was just looking at my energy company which is Octopus energy. One their website it says that the helpline opens on 14th November. It also says that they will be sending letters out between Nov and mid January for all those that qualify. It will then be added to your energy account by 31st March 2023.All details here. https://octopus.energy/blog/warm-home-discount/I just found some information for OVO and it says between Oct and March it will be paid so it could be that. https://www.ovoenergy.com/guides/energy-guides/warm-home-discount-scheme

You're welcome. Sorry for the questions at the start, i was just trying to find out some extra information because the Government haven't been very clearly on the criteria at all.

I PRAY that The Tory Government will do a LOT MORE to help everybody in the UK with these over the top Energy Costs... I so wish Jeremy Corbyn was the Prime Minister as he would have Nationalised all our Energy Companies & our Railways so that NONE of us would be getting RIPPED OFF & CHEATED now.... by these PRIVATE COMPANIES who only want to make Millions of Pounds in Profit while they make Everybody in the UK suffer.... It's So Unfair....1

Up until when Maggie was installed in No10 most of what you mention were nationalised. There had been no investment in most of them for many years. Take the railways, they were still suffering the overuse because of the 2nd world war.
So, if Corben would want to go back to the days of British Rail I would ask where the money would come from to buy it all back AND pour money in year on year to make it the envy of Europe/

What, exactly do they class as "low income" for WHD ?We are surviving on a low income but since I took early retirement for medical reasons - we do not come under PENSION CREDITS or WTC0

Part of the criteria is you must be claiming a means tested benefit... Income Related ESA/JSA/ Income Support etc etc. If you're not claiming any of those you won't be entitled to the WHD. https://www.gov.uk/the-warm-home-discount-scheme/low-income
