I would inform them rather than rely on them knowing.
Have you declared to UC that you are a carer? If so you should be getting the carer element (unless you are getting the LCWRA element for yourself).0 -
yes and i get a care elemet and a disabled child element i just wasnt sure if they would be notified automatically or not0

also i don’t understand how they work the carers allowance out with uc obviously i know it gets taken £ for £ but what i dont get is that if its treated as an income with universal credit you can earn a certain amount before they deduct any more so why is it not the same with carers allowance0

It’s not classed as earnings. It’s classed as unearned income, therefore it’s deducted £1 for £1. The same rules applied when claiming carers allowance and legacy benefits such as Income Related ESA/JSA and Income Support.Cdare22 said:also i don’t understand how they work the carers allowance out with uc obviously i know it gets taken £ for £ but what i dont get is that if its treated as an income with universal credit you can earn a certain amount before they deduct any more so why is it not the same with carers allowance0 -
If they know you are getting it then you will be able to see it as a deduction on your monthly UC statement.0

Hello @Cdare22
I can see you had some brilliant advice from our community. Wanted to check in and see if you spoke to UC about this and if the outcome went well?
Hope you are keeping ok?0
