I have just been informed that on the back of an application for Enhanced PIP I have been told that although the assessors accepts that my mobility needs have worsened, because I reached pensionable age in July 22. by law I cannot be consider for enhanced mobility. WHY? Does it mean. That now I no longer have to work, I no longer need to be mobile. I can become a prisoner in my own home and it doesn't matter. I think this is ageist. How can this be right?

Unfortunately that is the case and it does affect many people although it is the law. When did you do the change of circumstances? If it was after you became pension age the DWP are correct.

It's the same issues, they have worsened, they had worsened before July when I became pension age. My mother was dying so I was preocupied with thatso I didn't claim until  October 22. My issue is, that, it's almost if you are written off because you are a pensioner.

I'm afraid DWP are correct because you reported the changes after you reached state pension age, you can't be awarded Enhanced mobility. The same rules applied for DLA.

I don't, I'm confined to my home until someone has time to help me or take me out, I cannot afford my own car and I can't walk as far as the shop or bus stop. My son calls in everyday to help me with what I need.

I'm glad you've got support from your son @Trish123456taylor, it must be nice to see him everyday :)

Have you considered talking to your GP about a needs assessment? It may help with providing additional support, so you can get out and about more for example.

If he’s over the age of 18 then he won’t be  able to claim PIP whilst he’s in hospital.
You can look at claiming Universal Credit for him and he will need a fit note if he claims. https://www.gov.uk/universal-credit
