Hi Please can anyone advise? I rang esa today to tell them I have been awarded pip (standard rate) and they said I don't qualify for sdp because I'm in wrag. Is this true?
Awarded pip from may 22. been on esa for over 6 years. I have an 18 year old daughter living here still at college. I receive carers allowance as caring for my adult son who doesn't live with me.
Thanks

Being in the WRAG makes no difference to SDP entitlement. Do you still claim child benefit for your 18 year old daughter? if so then based on the information you gave you'll be entitled to SDP, providing your PIP includes daily living part.

That's what I thought too. So the esa advisor has given me incorrect information! He said he could see that I had been awarded pip, went through questions about my daughter and son. Then said I definitely don't qualify for any premiums and advised me to write a letter to request moving to support group!
What shall I do now about sdp???0 -
Once the child benefit stops or your daughter leaves full time non advanced education then the SDP will stop, unless she also claims a qualifying disability benefit such as PIP daily living or DLA mid/high rate care. When you ring ESA ask to fill out the IS10 form.1

@poppy123456 thanks I will. Currently on hold. Hope I get better advisor this time0

Just to add - the SDP should be backdated to the start date of your PIP award.1

Does it make a differance if I was awarded esa before 2017?... still on hold0

Thanks for all the advice!
The DWP advisor was very helpful and apologised for her colleague. She filled in the IS10 form and said 6 to 8 weeks for a reply2
