Our son has just been awarded enhanced PIP. Can my husband claim free car tax? We have one car which we own. This is used to take our son to his activities and my husband uses his car for food shopping and general errands. From January he will be in the office 2 days a week (currently working from home)

If he has Enhanced mobility then yes but the car must be used for the purpose of the disabled person. Details here https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1109261/ins216_how_to_apply_for_free_disabled_tax.pdf0

Thank you. Only my husband drives so he would obviously need to use his car sometimes when our son is not with him.0
