Hi all. I suffered a severe brain injury in 2017. I was in ICU for a month and spent a week in a coma. My wife was told that I would probably never walk or talk again. I suffered’Lance/Adams syndrome’ (only 30+cases worldwide) I was then sent to Neuro-Rehabilitation at a local hospital (what a joke that was) I used to work as a Counsellor/Psychotherapist for the NHS and privately. I saw many clients who complained about their PIP assessment and outcome. I also saw a client who applied for a management position for Atos. They were overjoyed when offered the job, mainly because of the massive bonuses they would receive. I never truly understood until I went through it. I was given 0 points and couldn’t be bothered with appealing. I’m just about to apply again. Any advice would be appreciated. (It’s taken me 45mins to type this)

Hi @GarethGJones69 - & welcome to the community. Must admit I had to look up Lance-Adams Syndrome, where less than 150 cases worldwide were mentioned, so, yes, definitely rare.As mentioned above, you do need to understand the PIP activities/descriptors.Also important to give a couple of recent, detailed examples as to the difficulty you face for each applicable descriptor, i.e. when did it happen, where, what happened, did anyone see this, & were there any consequences to attempting/doing an activity?
Say if you can't do an activity 'reliably,' i.e. safely, to an acceptable standard, repeat as often as would be reasonably expected, or if it takes you much longer than someone without a disability.
Perhaps seek some advice here to help (choosing 'Welfare benefits' in the drop down menu): https://advicelocal.uk/ as I certainly wouldn't apply giving the same info you initially gave, as this could lead to you not being awarded again.
