Hi all. Sharing our timescale so far!!

5th October 22 Uc requested my partner filled in UC50 after 16 months long term sickness from work.

19th October 22 ,We printed the form as hadn’t received it in post.

24th October 22, form sent back 1st class recorded delivery.

28th October 22 form received in post handling site.

31st October, received original form from assessment centre. (Glad we printed the form as we had until the 4th November to return).

2nd November partner was terminated from employment due to in capability and continued I’ll health.

7th November 22 called to confirm form received, was put on the system 4th October 22. Told wait would be 4-8 weeks for assessment appointment.

Today 14th November 22 received letter dated 10th November 22 with telephone appointment on 22nd November.

This seems really quick!! Causing a bit of anxiety to my partner as he was expecting a long wait!!

Has anyone experienced this before?? We are in London.

The length of time it took to receive an appointment for the work capability assessment doesn't mean anything other than it was quick. Yes, there are long waiting times in some areas but in other areas they do seem to be quicker. It doesn't mean anything at all.

    Update.

Partner had Telephone assessment today lasted 34mins.

They hardly asked about his back condition just about his anxiety and depression.

His support advisor had to jump in on his behalf a few times as he was struggling to explain and understand what they meant!!

Lady asking the questions also kept confusing the dates so support advisor corrected them.

At the end of the call they said he should receive a letter in the next 3 weeks. She then said you can request a MR and go to appeal if not awarded.

This made my partner really panicky and broke down.

    Now the long wait!!!

That 3 weeks, could be up to 12 weeks. Though when claiming UC a decision is often made quite quickly but not always.

    Thank you poppy.

Not expecting it to be a quick process!! Couple of questions if You don’t mind??

Do they up date you via your journal once they receive report?? Would like to request it incase we need to do MR

And do you only receive journal update if awarded?

    Thank you in advance

No, they don't tell you on your journal once the report is returned. Do be aware that they don't always agree to send out the WCA report. If the worst happened you don't need it for the MR anyway.

Once the decision is made a letter will be uploaded onto your journal, regardless what that decision is.

From the 11th November payment. Therefore youare owed one month which will be paid separately. Check your next statement for December includes LCWRA and if not raise a payment query.

Thought it would be more then one month. Health condition started in June 2021.

    Thanks for the help 😊

What date exactly did you report the health condition/sent your first fit note and did you continue to send them without any gaps until a decision was made?

Just noticed it was 28th June 2021 that you reported the health condition. This means that you reported it in the June/July 2021 assessment period (AP).
Your APs are 5th to 4th of each month. Your waiting period is July to Oct 2021. LCWRA starts from AP 5th Oct to 4th November and first payment will be 11th Nov 2021.
As calcotti advised money owed will be paid separately to your usual monthly money.

Sorry - I missed it was June 2021 rather than 2022. Apologies for confusion, so 13 months owed rather than 1!

    Thank you for the help!!

Statement this month has LCWRA element. Now just waiting on seeing if they sort out back payment as haven’t received anything from UC since decision.

So I messaged UC on my journal asking about back pay explained the dates health condition was added and fit notes. Due 13 months back pay after the 3 month wait period.

Received a reply today saying 10 months money would be in bank on Wednesday!! They only back dated it to January this year! Saying October to December was out wait period!!! 🤦‍♀️

So now Iv replied to them stating correct dates using Poppy break down!!

Hopefully this time they will do it correctly.

Yay! I am glad to hear that you received a reply saying 10 months' money would be in the bank on Wednesday @Charjay1989. This sounds like, at least, a semi-relief.

Hopefully, your response will prompt them to give you the other three months' pay you have worked out with Poppy though.

Please feel free to let us know how it goes and if you need any further support with this. We are all here for you and listening to you  :)
