Hi everyone....hope your all well as can be...looking for a little bit of advise....I suffer from mental health and all the issues that come with it that I won't bore you with....I've been very ill for the last 3 years and my condition is fueled by saver tinnitus....I've had suicide attempts and self harm but like everything else I messed it up....I claim with my wife but we support our son who is still at home witch we are happy to do....if I claim for my illnesses will it stop our other claims...ie...rent and joint claim....witch I find daunting if that's the case and don't think I could cope with everthing be chucked up in the air....ide rather not claim disability for my self....many thanks

    If you're of working age and you're talking about claiming PIP for yourself then this won't affect (in a bad way) any help with the rent you receive.

    Welcome to the community.

    I'm so sorry to read you've had such a difficult time with your mental health. As Poppy said, you can claim for yourself. I know the process can be so daunting for many. You can reach out to your local GP to help you with any claim forms and the government website goes through how to claim PIP, if you wanted to read into it further.
