Hi Everyone. Not sure if this is the right place for me but I hope so🙂 I have a son with Aspergers and quite debilitating OCD. He’s 22. He can work bar work, waiter for short time until the OCD takes over and his masking no longer works. He’s never had any benefits. He is on medication. He refuses help. Our concern is he’s outside the system and basically we (his mum and I) are worried for his long term future.
Thankyou for reading

Hi @AliG. Welcome to Scope's forum. It is great to see you have joined us. How are you at the moment?
I think the most important thing is that you feel able to reach out to us when you need and want to.
Please try not to worry too much about where your posts go, we can always help to put posts in the right place if needed.
You mention your main concern being that your son is outside the system and worried for his long term future.
Could you tell us more, such as what system you would like your son to be inside and which part of his long term future you are mostly worried about?
I just want to make sure we provide you with the support you need and deserve. We are all here for you and listening to youCommunity Volunteer Adviser with professional knowledge of education, special educational needs and disabilities and EHCP's. Pronouns: She/her.

A warm welcome to the community from me too @alig Thank you for posting here, and for telling us about your son.
The worry over what'll happen to your child in the future is a common one, so you're certainly not alone. I've moved your post into our children, parents, and families category. I hope that you can connect with some other parents in a similar position!
Do you have any specific concerns around his long term future? For example, are your concerns about him supporting himself financially, or being able to take care of himself by completing daily tasks, and so on.
