Pip for myself and my child?

Hello everyone, I have a question about claiming pip, I have a current award for daily living due to the amount of help I receive for my bipolar autism and fibro. My son who’s 8 also has low functioning autism and is only attending school for half days while they find him a different school that can cater for his needs ect and it’s been mentioned to me a few times why I’m not claiming disability for my son, but I thought I couldn’t as I already claim for it myself? Am I correct in thinking this or should I be claiming for him also? Thank you for any advice given ☺️

As your son is under 16 he can't claim PIP. It would be DLA you'll need to claim for him. Your PIP hasn't nothing to do with any possible DLA award for your son.For DLA for a child you need to prove that your son has more care and/or attention needs that a child the same age who doesn't have a disability.

I was led to believe, you cannot claim DLA for your child, as well as claiming pip?0

That's completely incorrect. Claiming DLA for a child has nothing at all to do with a PIP claim for yourself and vice versa.
