Does other benefits get backdated?

I'm still waiting for a decision and have received the text to say the assessor report was received by DWP and another text saying no decision yet and then a letter saying they have all they need so now I'm just waiting...

I understand pip will get backdated to the date I started the application but I was told I'll possibly get an increase on my ESA and I was wondering if I'd get a backdate for how long I've been on ESA?

I've been on ESA for a few years and was told to go on pip a while back but I never did because I knew the stress it caused but now I've applied I'm just wondering if I'd get a backdate from ESA too or if it'll just be increased from the date my pip application was made or from the first pip payment date

Thank you

Which ESA are you claiming? Is it Income Related, the old contributions based or New style ESA?
If your claim started after December 2018 then it will be New style ESA and there’s no disability premiums payable with this.
If it’s Income Related, do you live alone or with other adults?

It's income related and I've been on the same esa for the past 5 years+ and never been moved and I live alone

Then if you’re successfully awarded daily living PIP you will be entitled to the Severe Disability Premium (SDP) which is an extra £69.40/week. This will be backdated to the start of your PIP award and you’ll need to ring ESA to claim it.

Ah perfect thank you, glad to know I'd have to call them I forgot to ask that! I saw others say they didn't have to call but if I do get daily living then I'll try and see if I can get my support worker to call them with me and try get that all sorted!

    Thank you! :)

Thank you! I really appreciate the help on this forum!

I received a text saying they awwRded me so i called the pip number and was told my payment is due start of January and I think it added up to enhanced daily living and standard mobility but I read that it could be wrong so I'm just waiting for the backdate payment now or the letter so fingers crossed! :)

    Thank you!!
