PIP Review Backlogs 2022

Hi. Just received my PIP Review form.
Does anyone know if there's still a backlog as someone I know has been waiting over a year for an assessment - and there's bits n pieces on the internet about a backlog. If there's no backlog, how long can I expect to wait for an assessment? This is my second review with my last review in Feb 2020. Thank you 😊

We have members that are still waiting more than a year after returning the forms. We have members that waited several months.
Theres really no timescales but you should expect another assessment because most people have them.
Best thing to do is to try to forget about it, though I know that’s difficult.

    Hello @speedykelv

I'm so sorry that you have had to wait so long. As Poppy said, we do have members waiting more than a year, and I echo to try and put it out your mind. Maybe enjoy the festive season if you celebrate? I know it's easier said than done, we are here if you have anymore question. queries or just need to vent. :)

Thanks, I'm actually hoping for there to be a backlog if I'm honest. Hate the Assessments.
Was just wondering if there were any?

No one can tell you the exact timescales for any specific area. I can only give advice based on other members waiting times. I know they've been concentrating on new claims for quite sometime.

I've been waiting since July. I have been told that it could be another 5 months.

I plan on calling them in March if I've not heard anything.

    Waiting game I'm afraid.

@woodbine if you don't mind me asking does age matter, I'm in my early 50s so does that mean I might not get PIP awarded?

Age has nothing to do with it.

Hi there, we sent in the pip review form that they sent out for my wife and we got a confirmation text in early November. Now the pip end date has come my care allowance will stop, her pip will stop and goodness knows what will happen to our UC. Is there any idea how long this review process will take? We haven’t heard a word. Btw some time ago we received a letter saying pip had been extended to Dec 2023 because of covid so they are going back on that.

If you've had a letter from Carers allowance saying this is going to stop then you need to contact them to tell them that the PIP has been extended to Dec 2023, the the carers allowance will continue. Your PIP will continue anyway until a decision is made on the PIP.
Reviews are currently taking several months, potentially longer so you could be waiting quite sometime before you hear anything.

Thanks I’ll phone carers tomorrow. The question is if they know they can’t process the reviews reasonably quickly why are they asking for reviews before the extension date?

Just because your award was extended this doesn't mean you weren't still due a review. If they didn't extend the awards then your PIP would stop before the decision was made, this would make the whole situation even worse.
