I applied for rent help with my local council. I have just been 8nformed that as I'm of working age! I don't qualify. They have referred me to you, to seek UCS.

They are correct, you can no longer make a new claim for housing benefit unless you're either living in supported or temporary housing.To claim for help with any rent you will need to claim Universal Credit. As this is a means tested benefit whether you qualify will depend on your circumstances. If you live with a partner you claim as a couple and your joint circumstances will be taken into consideration.
