Is my pip mine at 16

I’m moving over to pip from dla and my mum is telling it her money and it will be mine when I’m 18. I have ADHD, ODD, depression and Anxiety I know how to look after money ie rent first, bills, then food shopping, etc. is there a way I can stop my mum being my appointee because I feel she’s just using for an extra payday. Thank you for any advice.

The guidance above was withdrawn by DWP in July but alarmingly they don’t appear to have posted any new guidance so this appears to be the best we can refer to.

This sounds like a difficult situation to negotiate. I can see that two of our members have sent you some links to advice on this, which I hope you've found helpful. 

I'm wondering whether you might find it helpful to seek some professional advice on this, too. You could contact Citizens Advice, or look for other sources of support in your area on advicelocal.uk
