I've been awarded PIP, how long before payment? Will I have to wait for COL payment?

I won my appeal at the tribunal on 8/6/23, I got enhanced for both backdated to 29/10/22. I rang DWP and they asked me the questions regarding prison, hospital and bank details how long do I have to wait before I get any payments, and will I have to wait for the £150 cost of living payment

Hello @Debstar1468 and a warm welcome to our online community, how are you?

That's fab news, well done you on going to tribunal and being determined to get what was deserved. After a tribunal, I believe it can take up to 8 weeks and longer to receive any money. I couldn't reliably advise about the COL payment, but I'm sure another member will fill you in :)

Just to let you know, I've amended the title of your thread and moved it to our PIP, DLA and AA category to help others find it. Wishing you all the best.

It can take up to about 8 weeks for the money they owe you to be paid into your bank. Now they've asked the hospital and prison questions hopefully it won't be too long. Once the payment has been made it takes 3-5 working days to go into your bank.

Yes, you will be entitled to the £150 CoL payment which is due to be paid anytime between 20th June and 4th July. Whether you'll receive it within that timeframe is another matter but unfortunately, no one can predict that. There will be a missing payment link available from 5th July if you don't receive it.

Thanks, does it make a difference that they only asked the questions cos I rang in? Tbh think 8 weeks is a bit high given then length already waited. I know it’s coming but doesn’t help in the here and now :(

No, it won't make a difference. The reason for the wait is because DWP have as much chance we do to appeal the decision. Before they can do this they must first request the Statement of Reasons within 1 month of the date of the decision.

Once they recieve it they need to find the error in law before then can proceed any further. They sometimes request it but rare appeal it. If they request it, it doesn't mean they are appealing.

You also won't be the only person waiting so they will have other Tribunal decisions to work through as well.

Spoke to DWP today and they said they will be processing my letter on 22nd seems quick given people wait weeks, they said they’ll be processing my money thereafter. Is this unusual?

Some awards are put into payment quicker than others.
