Hi all
I have a query on behalf of a friend who is in receipt of ESA.
He will be turning 66 in March and therefore entitled to state pension.

He received a letter from Job Centre Plus stating that from his birth date in March (when he turns 66) his ESA will now be reduced to £129.50 due to ‘an age change’
Correct me if Im wrong, but I thought ESA was meant to stop completely when you reach state pension age?
Should he call them and double check things or are there exceptions for some people?
Thanks

ESA letters never make any sense. His ESA will end the day before he reaches state pension age, the only exception is if claiming with a partner and the partner is the main claimant. Is this the same person that you asked the question for in a previous thread. https://forum.scope.org.uk/discussion/112332/income-related-esa-state-pension#latest0
