ESA and pension

Hi all

I have a query on behalf of a friend who is in receipt of ESA.

He will be turning 66 in March and therefore entitled to state pension.

He received a letter from Job Centre Plus stating that from his birth date in March (when he turns 66) his ESA will now be reduced to £129.50 due to ‘an age change’

Correct me if Im wrong, but I thought ESA was meant to stop completely when you reach state pension age?

Should he call them and double check things or are there exceptions for some people?

Thanks :)
