You're a time traveller! When are you going?

We love to celebrate unusual awareness days, and today is no different as it's pretend to be a time traveller day!

Comic strip where a man goes back in time and is asked how to make a mobile phone but he doesn't know how

I've often thought about 'when' I would visit and how my knowledge could help improve lives. Though this comic makes me realise there probably isn't much I would be able to do 😂

Is time travel possible?

Yes! You're currently travelling through time at a rate of one second per second, wow! Ok, so that's not really what we mean when talking about time travel. No-one has built a time machine that can truly take us back and forth in time and they probably never will. Stephen Hawking once decided to test if there were indeed time travellers and hosted a party for them, but nobody turned up as he didn't send out the invitations until the day after!

One way to travel in time is to use telescopes, as they allow us to look back in time. It takes a long time for the light from faraway galaxies to reach us, so what we see is how the stars looked a very long time ago.

Time travel films - which method would you choose?

Back to the future

How "Back to the Future" Made the DeLorean Car Famous | American Collectors Insurance

How about this method of time travel? The infamous DeLorean with its flux capacitor. All you need to do is get up to 88 miles per hour!

Bill and Ted's excellent adventure

Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989) - IMDb

A phone booth as a time machine? Why not! It's a pretty simple way to travel as long as you have the right phone number.

Interstellar

Inside the Making of the Spectacular Tesseract in 'Interstellar'

More of a scientific and complicated way to time travel by going through a wormhole. I think this method would be out of reach for the majority of people as we're not all scientists and astronauts!

When and where would you travel to?

Would you go as far back as the dinosaurs? Back to medieval times? Or would you choose a point in your life to go back and change something?

I'm a huge fan of "being excellent to each other" so I'd be going back in a phone booth for sure. 😁

I'd love to visit key moments in history, like the discovery of electricity/gravity etc, I'm sure for such world changing discoveries, the actual days were probably a bit boring, so I'd like to be there with some party poppers. 😆

I would love to have a peek at 100-200 yrs in the future to see how we may have progressed and be able to look at Mother Earth and see if she is all good, Space is not the final frontier it is our only option apart from extinction

PLEASE SOMEONE INVENT A TIME MACHINE

I wouldn't want to change history, or really interact with it, because of the potential consequences. But as a history graduate, I would like to visit several historical periods and places to answer questions I have :)

For now I'm going with Dannoura Bay, 1185. Although Honnouji Temple, 1582 would also be an interesting one - and the 13 days following.

I would travel on the day Bitcoin mining starts and distribute contraceptives to the parents of some politicians in advance.

I don't believe that it can be possible to travel back in time - because if it was, someone at some point in the future would surely make a mistake and destroy all life on earth - and they haven't - but travelling forwards to the future - Yes there is no reason why not…. However, how this would be achieved is beyond me.

Just read Strawberrys comment. I'd go back to the 70s too. The world seemed a kinder, safer place
