Carers allowance and UC

hi all,

My mum gets carers allowance for caring for me, but she’s planning on getting her pension instead.

I’ve read that if my mum doesn’t get carers allowance, it can impact how much I receive with UC (LCWRA) - I was wondering how much I could expect to lose (if any) when she stops getting carers allowance, please, so I can be prepared for any reduction?

Thank you ☺️

Your Mum changing from Carers Allowance to her pension won't have any affect your UC award.

    brilliant, thank you

Ive read conflicting info on Google about if it effects ESA (I got only the Disability Income Guarantee and not the ESA severe disability premium) - if it would have effected my ESA (if I still got that), would I need to let UC know or because I’m on UC now, any extra I got with ESA that may have been affected (eg disability income guarantee) doesn’t apply now when she stops carers allowance?

(Sorry if these are silly questions but the DWP terrify me 😅)

If you get UC now then the ESA rules don't apply.

Even if you changed from ESA with SDP it wouldn't matter, as any Transitional Protection paid under UC due to previous ESA SDP is based on your circumstances when you changed to UC. Nothing to do with now.
