My Hydrocephalus Difficulties

I developed a condition called Hydrocephalus (also referred to as water on the brain) three months after I was born. Not only this, but a whole developed in my heart and I suffered multiple seizures in the incubator.

As a child, I found it difficult to make friends, I was held back in Year R, and I received a lot of support from school. Education became my life and I managed to rise beyond my learning difficulties and achieve grades in school which were well beyond teachers' projections of my abilities.

Although I prospered in school, I think I was held back and held down in school. I wasn't allowed to participate in contact sports, nor was I allowed to walk up and down the stairs in secondary school-although I was fully capable of doing these things. I know that schools need to be really careful about not incurring legal ramifications for any injuries sustained, but life is about taking risks and the legal concerns only get in the way of the flow of life.

I do have issues with certain things related to my condition. I'm repetitious, my reasoning can be off, I can be a bit too introverted, I've got obsessions with certain things and articles of clothing, but through it all I'm very blessed. I have a loving family, I have lovely friends, I am a very kind and beautiful person who has various talents-though I feel like my truest potential is pacified by fear and my inability to find certain wants.

Something I value hugely is connection. Human connection is so important, as well as embracing nature. Unification strengthens us all, though I'll admit in a society fixated on smartphones and social media, the importance of pure and meaningful connections seem to be secondary.

I'm not sure who if anyone will read this, but I'd love to know what you think about what I've written here, and I'd like to know more about those who care to comment, so please do if you see fit.
