Hi, my name is mummaG! SDP, can I claim the back pay now?

My daughter was claiming carers allowance for me, but it stopped 9 July 2018, should ESA have put my premium up to severe at this time, I was enhanced while she claimed carers, I have since fulfilled all requirements for sdp, so why didn't they pay me? I've heard of many people being refunded lump sums and have been shocked to find out why they had got this payment, have they overlooked me, can I claim the back pay now, I've been recieving sdp since 27/3/2025

Hi,
SDP is not added automatically because the DWP don't know everyone's living arrangements. It's something that the claimant should request when they meet the requirements.
As long as you were living alone between 2018 & 2025, and receiving the Daily Living part of PIP or DLA, then you should have been entitled to it. You can make a claim for it to be backdated. Can I ask why it was added recently, did you request it or did they inform you? Perhaps they are calculating the backpayment now if they know you were eligible from 2018.
