My son is applying for pip and I’m his appointee. I filled in the form then got a telephone assessment date. After receiving the date for the assessment, I asked if it could be a paper based assessment because it would cause my son significant distress. They noted this but said it may get rejected. Not heard anything for six weeks then today I missed a call from a nurse from the dwp. Any idea why they would randomly call me? I imagined if they didn’t agree to paper based I would get another appointment via text

A random call is what usually happens for a paper based assessment.

Paper based means they have enough information without a full assessment. This can be form + no further input from the claimant, or as for my PIP paper based assessment, a few questions only.

Thank you! If I miss their second call (I'm a teacher, so might be in a lesson) could this go affect the paper based assessment? perhaps leading to them giving me another date for a phone assessment?

It's so annoying they don't give a time or anything, how are people meant to know especially if they do other things??

If they can't get the information they need to complete a paper assessment they'll then look to do a telephone or in person one instead ❤️
