Hello, I'm panicking a little. I've been paid ESA in July 3 times, but my statement for August ended on the 30th, and my 3rd ESA payment was on the 31st yesterday. Will my September payment be a lot less, as August should show 3 payments from ESA
my august payments for esa work out.
14th
28th

But would the 31st of july also be deducted as it would run into August period

@richardlow89 are you going to moved to universal credit or about to be moved. i am not sure but sometimes you get a last payment and then you get a letter in the post that you have to apply for universal credit… i will wait for August to check what happens. for instance it happen to me in May i had three payments. 1st 15th and 29th. and in July i had two payments… and since i have been move to uc i have been told i have to wait until the 7th to know how much i will be getting paid and then from the day after til the 11th i will get paid that amount... new style esa should have called and never did. so i am a bit worry on why did that happen.. i am not sure really. in some cases people who are about to be moved to universal credit get a last payment. keep an eye on what happen this month. i am worried sick universal credit will pay little and have to chase new style esa to have some more money to top it up. still not sure how the universal credit works..

    Some advice given here:

New Style ESA is paid once a fortnight.

UC is paid once a month.

The deduction for New Style ESA will always be for 30 days @ £609.05, regardless if it is a month where an individual has had two or three NS ESA payments.

There are delays with the NS ESA claimant commitment phone calls, money will continue to be paid every fortnight regardless of how long they take to get to you.

@Kimi87 does that mean September's uc payment will be the same as this months payment even if i get paid esa 3 times

    Yes.

Every month the deduction for New Style ESA will be the same £609.05.

This is because it's calculated at 30 days NS ESA to align with the UC payment cycle.

It doesn't matter if you have actually had two or three payments because it is always 30 days worth as the deduction.

ok.. i just hope between uc and ns esa and housing i get pay the same i was getting paid. i do not mind a bit less but i do not want hundreds less… i will not know until the 7th.. and i hope new style will be included as they never called. UC on its own it is not enough. anyway.. i am rather worried. but i hope it will work out well.. i always hated the idea of being move to universal credit and will not be sure on how much i will get until next week. at the job centre the assured me i would get paid the same as i am in the support group but i guess i will not know until next week… i thought ns esa was paid like the old one.

New style esa is paid fortnightly at £281.10.

If your UC award is lower than legacy benefits, Transitional Protection will be added to your claim to ensure you aren't worse off at the time of transfer. This does erode over time as other elements go up or new elements are added. Or ends with a major change of circumstances such as swapping between single/couple claim.

As I've advised every month the amount of NS ESA deducted from UC is a fixed amount of £609.05.

This is because they make the deduction based on 30 days NS ESA, not whether an individual has had two or three payments in that time.
