Consequences of Falls in Individuals with Cerebral Palsy
Next Monday, October 27, at 1 am UK / 8 pm ET, clinical scientist Liz Boyer, PhD, will share findings of her study about falls in people with CP called “Consequences of Falls in Individuals with Cerebral Palsy.” This presentation is based on data that was gathered in part from our MyCP Community Registry where community members self-report their experiences with CP. This study was designed to better understand how falls may be different over time as someone ages and how gross motor ability (how someone reliably moves around most of the time—e.g., walking, wheeling, etc.) may play a role. Members of the CP community with lived experience helped to plan the study and participated in interpreting the results and planned for how that information would be shared.
Dr Boyer’s goal is to create clinically friendly fall risk screening and assessments, as well as interventions to prevent falls or teach safe falling techniques to help keep people physically active. Furthermore, Dr Boyer hopes to help change physical and social environments to decrease fall risk and stigmatisation. In this webinar, she will share what she has learned so far and how the information she has gathered is getting her closer to achieving these goals. Join us Monday, October 27, at 8 pm ET to learn more.
The webinar will also be recorded and posted on our YouTube channel for those who can not attend.
