Disability benefits and my child leaving a-levels
my daughter turned 18 in December and she’s still doing her a-levels she finishes in June this year . I get pip and also UC , child element , child benefit and transitional protection because I moved over from esa . My daughter might go to university in September but she will still be living at home or she might start an apprenticeship we don’t know yet . From June to September she will still do her part time job of around 16 hours a week which she does whilst doing her a-levels . Will she have to pay council tax and some rent from June to September when my child element stops . It’s just me and her at home and she does a lot for me because of me being unwell , I’m not sure how it works for under 21 I get full housing benefit and council tax at the moment

Hi,
Hopefully another member can confirm, I believe there won't be any changes to your Housing Element or Council Tax Reduction because you get the Daily Living part of PIP. That prevents the usual deductions that would be made.

thank you

Your PIP will prevent a non dependant deduction being made to your UC Housing Element.
Council Tax Reduction is decided on at a local level and each local authority has different rules for this, meaning it's very hard to advise on individual cases from here.

Hello kimi87 ,
does this mean because I’m on pip I won’t get a deduction in my housing element. Thanks0 -
Yes that's correct.
