Brain Cancer

I haven't been on the forum for some time because of a couple of incidents over the past three years. I had a DBS implant, which helped me feel much better about myself. My wife and I began enjoying life again. We visited our relations on the Eastbourne coast, and on other days, we strolled along the promenade, taking in the sea views.
What happened next came as a total shock. When we got home, my wife fell and couldn't get up. I called an ambulance, and she was taken to hospital, where doctors diagnosed her with an aggressive form of brain cancer. It shattered me. I didn't know what to do except cry and tell my wife, who is so compassionate toward all living beings, how much I love her.
She is now undergoing chemo and other forms of cancer treatment. I hope they give her that precious time on earth, so I can continue to be by her side..

Welcome back @Ookpik it's nice to see you again, but I'm sorry that you're back under such sad circumstances. That sounds incredibly difficult to cope with. It's lovely that your instinct was to tell your wife how much she is loved, I'm sure that brought her some comfort even if she wasn't able to respond much at the time.

Fingers crossed her treatment goes well and it brings you some more time together.

Have you got other family and friends around for support at the moment? Hope you're managing okay in the circumstances 💛

Thank you for the kind and thoughtful posts. One thing my wife said to me was to enjoy life. I’ll find that hard; even now, as I type, my emotions are getting to me. But as time goes by, I think I’ll be able to manage.

Just had a phone call from my wife in hospital about the treatment will be receiving, it is chemo , and then something else, which is a possibility she can come home while being cared for.

Hi @Ookpik. Mixed news to hear you're better but you wife is worse. I had breast cancer treatment starting in 2015 with surgery, radiation and chemo. Cancer treatment is rough, and I'm sure your love is you wife's very best medicine. 🥰

Was your DBS implant for depression?

Hello StarryEyed, my wife has had it confirmed what kind of cancer she is burdened with. lt is bad news; the cancer is "Glioblastoma multiforme " this is a fast-growing form that will end the person's life in around 12 months.

The DBS l had was all due to very bad Cervical dystonia.

Yes, that's a bad cancer indeed. I'm wondering the same as @Rosie_Scope as to whether you both have supports in place? Most people don't plan on cancer.

I was hoping the DBS wasn't for depression because that could be triggered with this situation.

As you probably know, MacMillan Cancer Support in the UK is one of the leaders for cancer support. Even though I live in Spain, I used their site for a lot of information. Apart from information gathering, they also have a lot of forums. Here is a list of all the forums:
