Hi, I'm having an operation and receive full UC, will I be entitled to anything else when off work?

Hi!! I’m new, so thanks for having me.
I’m a single mum of 3, self employed and am due to have an operation to remove a tumour. I get full UC, atm. Will I get any help whilst I’m unable to work? And advise would be greatly appreciated

You're already claiming UC and this has replaced all the old legacy benefits. New style ESA maybe possible but you won't be financially better off by claiming that because it's just deducted in full from any UC entitlement.

Is your health condition long term? If so you can report the health condition, supported by a fit note within 7 days of that. You will need to do that through "change of circumstances" by logging into your journal.

Hi @laurawills and a warm welcome to our community, how are things going?

I'm sorry to hear that you'll be having an operation soon, have you got enough support around this and for help with your children? I hope so. We wish you all the very best.

I can see Poppy has advised you on where you stand from a benefits position. In the meantime, I've changed the title of your post and moved it to our Benefits and financial support category to make it more visible for replies.

Take care and all the best with the op once more.

Are you expecting to have follow up chemotherapy or radiotherapy or are you hoping to make a quick recovery?
