Hi, my name is Malemax96!

Hello, I would like to share a little about what has happened in recent months with my son's benefits. My son is on the autism spectrum. He was diagnosed when he was 2 and a half years old. We applied for DLA, which was accepted and he was given middle rate. Then I applied for carer allowance, and it was the same. My son is now 8 years old, and over the years, more challenges have come. At school, they told me he needed more support, so they helped me reapply to get high rate. It took 7 months to get a response, and it was negative. Now I'm in the mandatory reconsideration process. I have a big problem with carer allowance; it was stopped a year ago, starting in August 2024. There was no letter or anything explaining why. I called, and they told me I had to send in my P45 and all my payslips, which I did on July 28, 2025, and I still haven't received a response. Can anyone advise me?

hi there and welcome to the forum thank you for sharing a little bit about your son and your experience with DWP unfortunately I'm not an expert in this area so I wouldn't want to advise just in case I said anything wrong.
However what I would recommend is that you visit the coffee lounge for a general chat or the games den for some fun.0 -
Hi @Malemax96 and a warm welcome to the community from me!
That sounds like a frustrating situation, especially when you've been waiting so long already! You can call the Carer's Allowance Unit to check if they’ve received your documents and ask about the status and how long it might take which hopefully will be able to put your mind at ease a little bit😊0
