housing for families with disabled children.

housing for families with disabled children.
We have 10 year old daughter with disability and receive the higher rate of DLA. We have a property up north which is on rent and looking go sell however we still won’t have enough to buy a house down south and we desperately need a house so we can get it adapted for my daughters needs.
what would be my best options as I don’t think I am entitled to council housing because we own 1 property.

Hi @sam7860 and a warm welcome to the community from me!
Thank you for telling us a little about your situation.
Have you contacted the housing department of the local council that you want to move to about the situation? If not, then it may be really helpful to explain your circumstances in full, including your daughter’s care needs and the fact that the sale of your northern property still won’t enable you to buy in the south.
You may still be eligible for council housing or other support despite owning a property especially because of your daughter’s disability and the urgent need for suitable housing for her😊0 -
many thanks I will contact the local authority
