Elective Home Education with an EHCP

Hi, my young person is on roll at a Specialist Post 16 college with an EHCP. We are looking at Electively Home Educating her. I know that if a child is on roll at a specialist placement then the LA have to give permission. But what if, as is my daughter's case, the young person is over 16 i.e. not of compulsory school age - would I still need to get approval from the Local authority? I have searched and searched but I cannot find the answer, everything I have read only covers compulsory school age. Any advise would be appreciate, thanks

Hi @chocolatefrog I am not 100% sure sorry so I don't want to advise and give wrong information by mistake as this is quite a complex topic. It may be helpful to reach out to SENDIASS or IPSEA about this as they are the education specialists or even potentially contact your local parent carer forum about this as they should know what the process is like in your area for this😊
