Daughter ASD, college & EHCP, about to be kicked out

my daughter is in her second year of college and is really struggling as this is her first year doing level 3 courses.

Her self harm has gone through the roof and she is becoming very distant which is not a good sign as we have been here many times before.

I don’t know what to do!! She has an EHCP in place who I’ve tried to contact but as usual still waiting for a reply!
college are about to kick her out and she has no where to go!!

Is it the case that if she comes out of education we will lose the money we receive to care for her from Universal credit?

I don’t understand how I’m the full time carer, and if she comes out of college and needs more care I have to go back to work to help with the finances!! We are already struggling to keep her safe but this would be catastrophic!!

    Hi @tigerstar

It sounds like you're in a really difficult situation and I'm sorry to hear your daughter is struggling so much in college.

Is your daughter getting any support at the moment such as CAMHS or any other services?

Hopefully you won't be waiting much longer for a reply about the EHCP, did you reach out to the Local Authority or college about this as sometimes waiting times can vary between the two.

Please don't be afraid to chase it up though if you feel like the situation is getting more difficult and more complex!

We're going to send you an email shortly so please look out for it

hi Mary, sorry she already has an EHCP, and yes she is classed as high risk under camhs with weekly meetings.

I just don’t understand how until we can find something for her we lose the disability and carers element of universal credit
