Hi all so my son is due to turn 16 in the next week and I'm dreading the transition to PIP. We dont have a lot of medical evidence I have reports from when he was at primary school with speech and language therapy and some occupational health reports and his diagnosis. Im so worried about the application process could any one give me any advice on it. I filled in the form to say I need to be his appointee when they sent it when asking where to send the dla payment immediately after 16 so does that carry over to pip or do I have to do a separate appointee form for pip. Any help would be so appreciated.

Hi @RosiePosie2024 and a warm welcome to the community from me!

You'll need to apply to keep being your sons appointee when he receives PIP as it doesn't carry over from DLA.

Is the form you mentioned the regular pip application form or the appointee form?

If it wasn't the appointee form, then you can ring up PIP and ask for the appointee form if you haven't received it yet!

Here is some more information on changing from DLA to PIP at 16 that I hope may be helpful but if you have any more questions please reach out😊

You have to apply again to be an appointee when going from DLA to PIP.

To get help with the form filling, you can contact a local welfare rights organisation.

I wasn't clear from your first post, but it sounds like you've had the appointee form already then for PIP.

You're not his appointee for pip yet, you have to fill in the appointee form first @RosiePosie2024 😊
