Need advice
My Son has been awarded dla and is being back paid to April 2024 a substantial amount of money.
I will be using some of the money for what he needs and the rest putting it in a savings account in his name for when he is older. As his needs are for life.
I am on universal credit will it affect me because of the amount As it is going to be paid into my bank account.. ? I am classed as his representative when we went to the tribunal as my son is 9.
TThanks In advance for any information and advice

Hi @jinkerbello2 and a warm welcome to the community from me!
No it shouldn't affect your Universal Credit negatively as DLA is not means tested, you may actually be entitled to more UC depending on the rate of DLA and there is more information on that here😊1 -
@jinkerbello2 Mary has beaten me to post but I have looked into this and I say the same.
Receiving a large DLA back payment while on Universal Credit (UC) will not affect your UC payment. DLA is a non-means-tested benefit, meaning it is not based on income or savings, and it does not count as income when calculating your UC payment. In fact, DLA can increase your UC payment due to the additional support provided for households with disabled children. This support is automatically applied to your UC award once the DWP is notified of a DLA award for your child. You do not need to submit a separate application for this addition, but you must report your child’s DLA award through your UC online journal or by contacting the DWP directly.

Thank you.
I haven't updated uc as I haven't received any correspondence from the dla .only the tribunal outcome and a phone call.
I did t want my uc to be stopped because of the back payment as we need it at this time as I'm unable to work because of my sons on going condition .

Not a problem @jinkerbello2, your UC definitely won't be stopped because of the back payment😊
