Hi, i am guardian to my 6 year old granddaughter, she is currently on the waiting list to be diagnosed for adhd. She has only just been accepted on the list for diagnosis and could take a year/18 months to happen.

The reason i am here is to try and get some advice or help regarding my childs school. She struggles with handling her emotions and has a tendency to lash out if frustrated/sad/mad. The school is struggling more and more to handle her and her needs. She has little to no learning compared to other children. The school tries its best but I just don't think its fair on them or my granddaughter to carry on the way things are.

Today the school has suspended her for lashing out at a teacher after becoming frustrated. I completely understand that teachers do not go to school to get hit but am a bit worried for my child if this keeps happening.

I'm not sure if this post is even in the correct place, apologies if its not.

I had this at school as well, also used to get suspended for "fighting" against Bullies, even though in 95% of cases it was the Bullies wot caused the fighting in the first place.

Hi @Jimbones13 and a warm welcome to the community from me!

Thank you for telling us a little about your situation. It sounds like you are going through a really stressful situation at the moment so it's understandable why you're feeling worried.

Does your granddaughter have any support at the school at the moment?

As she's been suspended, it sounds like it would definitely be worth asking the SENCO for a meeting soon to see if there is anything else school could put in place to help or if there is any other potential avenues for support such as applying for an EHCP etc.
