Having resisted for a long time now I finally took the plunge last night and ordered a 4th gen. Echo Dot.
I'm hoping it will soon learn how I like my tea and coffee and not to disturb me too early in the day !

Time will tell.

Funny thing is you probably can teach it how you like your drinks, ha ha. In a few years maybe there will be a coffee machine available that connects to it and makes the drink just how you like it.

Meh, I got one for Christmas the year before last, and it doesn't make coffee, however it does play every song you could ever want, and I use mine as a timer when I'm cooking meals "Alexa, set timer for 15 minutes", works every time.

I'm open to ideas as to how to get the best use of it, a neighbour who sits next to the window all day is forever asking his for a weather forecast

I love playing the sounds of the sea or forest type apps....
I have one of those imitation log burners and have Alexa play the sound of a burning log fire, it's very relaxing lol...

I resisted for ages now I have 3. I even got it to sing happy birthday to me The shopping lists are useful, if I run out of stuff in the kitchen I ask it to add the item to my shopping list.

My mum finds it useful, she got hers for free from a local sight loss charity on the agreement she provided them with feedback. 

She has even connected it to some lights in her house too. She mainly uses it though for news, finding out information, the weather, an alarm clock, timer, ringing people through it, music. 

I have one too and its really good.

I don't have one, but there meant to be good, might invest in the future. I'm always googling stuff when I could just ask. Also read a report recently that alexa gives instructions on CPR and stuff too if needed.

I bought my Parents an Echo Show (plays videos as well as music) for Christmas last year, got about another 2 months to pay it off at £12 a month.

They use it all the time, set up on my Amazon account (took me 20 minutes and resetting my Amazon password twice on Christmas Day to set it up)

I have an echo show and I have echo dots around the house I think they are fab I use mine for lights and things aswel
